The building has been a pub since the 17th century. It is a grade 2 listed building since 1974. It was refurbished in 2013. It has retained features such has the exposed beams and exposed stone walls. It is located in the town centre 5 minute walk from the bus and train station. Despite its town centre status it is a welcoming pub. It has two permanent real ales on and one guest which is sourced from local brewers. The landlord stated his commitment to local ales. The Landlord is also introducing a cider. The beer is served at the correct temperature and of good quality. Most improved pub for real ale drinkers.
